WABA's 2010 Vasa Ride Washington, DC.
14, 28 and 56 miles from the House of Sweden, 2900 K St., NW Washington, DC 20007. Join the Washington Area Bicyclist Association (WABA) and the Embassy of Sweden in celebrating Sweden's famed ski race and festival, Vasaloppet, by bike! Starting from the Embassy of Sweden building, House of Sweden, bicyclists will duplicate the 56-mile Vasa race with a non-competitive ride through scenic upper Northwest Washington DC and into Montgomery County, MD. In keeping with the Vasaloppet’s week-long series of events for everyone, WABA also has designed shorter routes, a Halv Vasa (28 miles) and a Kort Vasa (14 miles). Times: Registration will start at 7:30am and end at 9:15 am. 56-Mile Vasa will start at 8:00am. 28-mile Halv Vasa will start at 8:30am. 14-mile Kort Vasa will start at 9:00am.  Registration: Although it is not necessary to register in order to participate, you are asked to  register online so that WABA can do its best to provide enough blueberry soup at the end of the ride! The Vasa ride is FREE and open to the public but please consider bringing a $5 donation the day of the event.

Charles County Sheriff's Bike Ride  Indian Head, MD.
26 miles on the Indian Head Rail Trail to benefit the United Way of Charles County and the Spring Dell Center. Check-in from 8 am at the Indian Head Village Green Pavilion. Ride starts at 9 am, lunch from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, finish by 3:00 pm. Registration is $25 for individual, $40 for family of two, $50 for a family of 3, and family of 4 or more is $15 each. 22, 31 and 62 miles from the University of Delaware over moderately hilly terrain in the area west and north of Newark. Sponsored by the White Clay Bicycle Club. $20 ($15 if received via mail by March 19). Snacks will be available at the start and the traditional well-stocked, indoor food stop will add to the camaraderie of the day. NOTE: You do not have to decide to do the 100 km route until after you've tested out your legs on the early portion of the combined routes. All registrants will receive a water bottle or cue sheet holder as a souvenir of the ride.

Hampton Roads Tour de Cure Chesapeake, VA.
10, 30, 65 and 100 miles. Sponsored by the American Diabetes Association.  Breakfast will be fully catered by Shoney’s.  Finish line festivities include live entertainment, delicious catered lunch, massage, games and more. Registration Fees is $25.00 for the 100 Mile Century, 30 Mile and 65 Mile Routes.  Minimum fundraising is $175.  10 Mile Family Fun Ride, no fundraising required but all must pay the $25.00 registration fee.  If anyone wants to enjoy food and festivities, wristbands can be purchased for $15.00.  Children under 2 are free.   Registration is required prior to event.  No day of event registration

2010 Face of America Bike Ride Bethesda, MD to Gettysburg, PA.
Ride with servicemen and women who have been severely injured in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Registration fee is $0 for injured military, $50 for retired or active duty military, and $100 for civilians. Registration includes one complementary ticket to Friday’s dinner (additional tickets are $30), Saturday breakfast, Saturday dinner, Sunday breakfast, rest stops, the famous steaks & beers with Seamus and a complimentary bus ride back to Washington, D.C. The fundraising minimum is $400 ($200 for active duty military).

10, 20 and 50 miles. Also a 5-mile ride designed for beginner cyclists, and a kid’s youth fun ride. Ride through some of Baltimore County’s most scenic neighborhoods. ROAR is a bike ride, hike and festival organized to raise funds for Kennedy Krieger Institute’s autism research and treatment programs. Pre-registration is $25; $30 on day of event. Capital to Capital Bike Ride - Cap2Cap Rocketts Landing, Richmond, VA or Chickahominy Riverfront Park, Williamsburg, VA.
25, 50, and 100 mile from your choice: Richmond or Williamsburg. Enjoy some of the most stunning scenery Virginia has to offer, while pedaling through 400 years of history. A free youth and family kids course in Richmond, a 15-Mile Family Route on the Virginia Capital Trail from Williamsburg, a mass start parade with lots of fanfare for each distance, on-road support, and lunch at the finish line, and food and drink available at rest stops throughout each route. Proceeds benefit the Virginia Capital Trail Foundation. Charles County's 9th Annual Heritage Bike Ride Nanjemoy, MD.
25, 50 and 100 km (15, 30 and 62 miles) from the Nanjemoy Community Center through beautiful Western Charles County in Southern Maryland. Check-in from 7:30-9:30am, and the last SAG run will be 3:00pm. County resident Fee: $25; Non-Resident: $27; add $5 if registering the day of. Preregistration Deadline: May 7. Preregistration is strongly recommended. Lunch provided by Chick-fil-A of La Plata. Each route begins and ends at Nanjemoy Community Center. The first bicycle arrived in Leonardtown, Maryland via a streamship from the Leonardtown Wharf in 1879, some 131 years ago. The bicycles are back! See professional level bicycle racing the Leonardtown Square. The bicycle racing begins at approximately 9:00 AM and runs through 4:00 PM. To participate, cyclists must be licensed though USA Cycling. There will be a registration fee to participate in the event, but there is no cost for spectators. A show-and-go start at the Crisfield American Legion Hall (116 Brick Kiln Rd.) from 8-9 a.m. After the ride, cyclists may visit popular local attractions such as Janes Island State Park or enjoy traditional Chesapeake Bay seafood dishes at one of several Crisfield restaurants. Those spending the night will have the opportunity to mingle with the locals at the annual Soft Shell Spring Fair and Watermen’s Hall of Fame induction at the Crisfield City Dock on Sunday, May 30, sponsored by the Crisfield Lioness/Lions Club and Crisfield Area Chamber of Commerce. 20, 40, 62.5 or 100 miles on Saturday and 20, 40 or 62.5 miles on Sunday. CBAR is a weekend long, pledge-based bike tour and inline skating event. Open to all cyclists/skaters, novice to expert. Routes go through Wicomico, Somerset and Worcester Counties to Assateague Island or along the shorelines. CBAR raises money for the American Lung Association to prevent lung disease and promote lung health through education, programs and research. Start/finish, lodging, and activities, including crab feast, are held at Salisbury University.

Patuxent River Rural Legacy Ride  Croom, MD (16 miles southeast of Washington Beltway).
13, 26, 49 and 64 miles from the Merkle Wildlife Sanctuary, with rest stops at the Jug Bay Natural Area in Patuxent River Park, at a beach-park where Magruder’s Ferry once crossed the Patuxent, and at Eagle Harbor in a shady yard overlooking the Patuxent. This is the Oxon Hill Bicycle and Trail Club's annual ride to showcase Prince George’s County’s Patuxent River Rural Legacy Area, where farms, wetlands, and woods are being protected from development with Maryland’s Rural Legacy Program. NEW THIS YEAR is the 13-mile route, which includes the Critical Driving Area Tour with four miles of scenic, unpaved road. Pre-registration is $15, day of ride registration is $20.

The Black & Blue Grayson County, VA.
200 miles from Grayson Highlands State Park near the base of Mount Rogers (5729'), the highest peak in Virginia. The course primarily follows scenic, country roads as it winds its way through North Carolina's High Country to the finish in Asheville.  This double century relay will showcase the demanding mountainous roads and notable rivers of Southwestern Virginia and Western North Carolina. Named for the difficulty and to reflect the Black Mountains and Blue Ridge Mountains through which the course traverses, The Black & Blue is sure to be a bike challenge like no other. The course features some of the region's most spectacular scenery including the balds of Grayson Highlands State Park, the New River, Toe River, Cane River, and Grandfather Mountain (5964'). The Black & Blue consists of 1 to 8 person teams that rotate through 1 to 8 stages as they cover the 200-mile distance and 21,758' of elevation change. Riders will complete anywhere from 25 miles to 200 miles. Registration fee is $280 for 8 cyclists, $180 for 4 cyclists, $110 for 2 cyclists,  $85 for 1 cyclist.

Each cyclist commits to raising $300, to help fund research plus programs and services to help bring us closer to a world free of multiple sclerosis. Tour dem Parks, Hon! Baltimore, MD.
12, 25, 40 and 64 miles from Carroll Park. The 12-mile tour is along the scenic Gwynn’s Falls Trail in the wild and beautiful Gwynn’s Falls Valley; the 25-mile tour is through many of the city’s parks and along waterfront areas; the 40-mile tour is though all of the city’s major parks, as well as many waterfront areas and historic neighborhoods; and the 64 mile “metric century” has an all-new route for 2010. The Tour is followed by a barbecue with live music.  Early-bird registration of $35 includes a  t-shirt for everyone who registers by May 31. The event is hosted by the Baltimore City Department of Recreation and Parks and the Mayor's Bicycle Advisory Committee with proceeds donated to groups and non-profit organizations affiliated with parks, greening, and bicycling.

35, 48 and 83 miles from Philadelphia’s historic Boathouse Row on the family-friendly Schuylkill River Trail.  Ride as far as Valley Forge or turn around any place you choose.  Choose the traditional 35 mile option through Villanova to Spring Mill and back onto the trail or follow the trail from Lloyd Hall near the Art Museum through Manayunk, Conshohocken, Valley Forge to Lower Perkiomen Valley Park and back (up to 48 miles round-trip, or 2.5-4.5 hours depending on your pace). Or do both! The event is hosted by the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia. Registration of $60 before May 28 includes membership in the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia.

Alleghany Gran Fondo Clifton Forge/Covington, VA.
35, 60 and 88 miles in the beautiful Alleghany Highlands of Virginia. This is a  timed cycling challenge with challenging routes, sag and neutral tech support, chip timing, pre and post- event food, drink and festival.  Beginning at 8:30 AM in downtown Clifton Forge, Va, the ride will traverse the gorgeous back roads and challenging climbs of the area before finishing in downtown Covington with a finish line party that will deliver a good time for participants and residents, alike. The three courses will present a challenge for the riders, especially the middle (medio) and longest (gran) distance routes, which include the climb up Airport Road (VA Route 606). This route was used in the stage of the Tour of Virginia bicycle race that finished in Covington in 2007. A portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research in its fight against this debilitating disease. The entrance fee of $75 includes free shuttle service, chip timing, T-Shirts for the first 100 riders and $5.00 meal discounts in Clifton Forge on Friday and in Covington on Saturday. You do not have to be from the Alleghany Highlands to volunteer. Family members of volunteers ride for only $25!

The Greatest Bicycle Tour of the Historic C&O Canal
Almost 200 miles on the C&O Canal. No hills, no headwinds, & no cars. Plenty of food, lots of support, ride at your own pace, well organized. This popular tour is an annual fundraising event which benefits the San Mar Children's Home in Boonsboro, Maryland. Participants must pay a $35 registration fee ($55 after June 1) and turn in at least $450 in pledges ($400 for those riding for only the weekend). For those exceeding minimum amounts there are prizes awarded for going above and beyond. Your registration fee and pledges provide transportation by charter bus to the start of the C&O Canal, all meals and snacks, free parking for your vehicle throughout the event, rest stops every ten to fifteen miles, camp fees paid for the first two nights or transportation to nearby hotels, hotel on the third night, transport of all gear throughout the event, T-shirt, water bottle, a TGBT patch, and  return to your vehicle by charter bus from Georgetown at end of event.

Sponsored by the Capital Resource Conservation and Development (RC&D) Area Council to benefit the South Central PA Chapter of Buy Fresh Buy Local. All routes begin and end at South Middleton Park in Boiling Springs, PA. Participants will find a picnic meal waiting for them at nearby Dickinson College Farm, with dishes prepared by local chefs, caterers and farmers. Afterward, visit with vendors and local artisans or get a relaxing massage. Tickets for riders and non-riding participants are $25.00 per person and includes the picnic; 5.00 "Early Bird" discount if your registration is received by July 21.

25, 50 and 100 miles on the Historic '76 Bike route. The routes will travel towards Lexington which will be the turn around point for the Century. It will be a folded route –out and back. All 3 distances will follow the same route; turning around sooner at designated areas will shorten the distance. SAG support, but no supported rest stops. Riders are encouraged to carry money and to support the numerous local stores/restaurants along the scenic route. Pre-registration fee is $10; $15 on day of ride.

18, 25, 64 and 103 miles through some of the most fabulous scenery in the area. The metric and century routes visit the C&O Canal National Historic Park and the Antietam National Battlefield. Scenic new routes loop riders through the central start/finish at San Mar. Eat lunch when you want or shorten your mileage. The ride is presented by the Cumberland Valley Cycling Club and benefits the San Mar Childrens Home. 15, 31 and 62 miles rides through some of Pennsylvania's most famous rural scenery, including six covered bridges. The terrain is rolling with a few hills on the 100K ride and flat to moderately rolling on the 50K & 25K rides. The rewards are stunning vistas of the richest farmland in America. The proceeds from this ride fund the Lancaster Bicycle Club's grants program. Registration: Limited to 3000 riders. Harford County Pink Ribbon Ride Bel Air, MD.
4, 12, 25, 40, 62 and 100 miles (which combines the 40 and 62 mile routes) around Harford Community College and throughout Harford County.  Proceeds raised will support the programs of the Chesapeake Cancer Alliance as well as the programs of The Red Devils at the Upper Chesapeake Medical Center  Rides will leave from the Susquehanna Center Building on the campus of Harford Community College starting at 7 AM.  Marked routes, SAG, rest stops, cue sheets, maps provided as well as lunch.  Massages will be available  from 11 to 3 thanks to the generously donated services of Siesta Massage Services. Showers available for use after the ride.  $30 if preregistered by September 4, 2010 and $35 after September 4 and  on site.  Graduated fees for family members participating in the ride. 35, 62 and 100 miles through some of the most beautiful scenery in Southern Maryland. This Century is put on by Patuxent Velo (www.paxvelo.com). Routes are flat to rolling, with an occasional hill. Rest stops will have local specialties, and will include St. Mary's city, Island Bar & Grill on St. George's Island, and Colton's Point. Count on the hospitality and friendliness cyclists have experienced on our previous Amish Hundred rides. Enjoy a shower at CSM, the free picnic and listen to live entertainment and end the day at the county fair.   $40 registration includes TECH T-shirts. No cotton here, get a quality TECH T-shirt!

The Civista Potomac Heritage Bicycle Tour La Plata, MD.
14, 33, 60, 80 or 100 miles through Southern Maryland.  All routes, except the casual 14-mile family ride, will take cyclists along the scenic on-road bicycle route of the Potomac Heritage Trail National Scenic Trail. Cyclists will return to La Plata to the Crossing at Casey Jones, where they will enjoy an after-ride party with food and entertainment. Come ride for your health and the health of those served by the Civista Medical Center. The event is sponsored by the Civista Health Foundation to raise funds for Civista Medical Center.

Timmy's Century North Bend State Park, near Parkersburg, WV.
100 miles (57 miles on Sunday and  43 miles on Monday). Enjoy cycling on the North Bend Rail Trail, a 72-mile long, mostly crushed stone multi-use trail in the heart of West Virginia.  This event raises funds for the Timothy Quigley Foundation, an organization established to help relieve the financial burdens of families that are currently suffering from the emotional and financial stress of childhood cancer.  Registration fee is $25 until August 31, 2010 and $40 on or after September 1, 2010.   Riders must raise a minimum of $375 ($300 only riding on Sunday). The ride is fully supported including a professional bike mechanic and supplies, massage therapists, daily route maps, emergency phone numbers, sag vehicles to carry your personal gear, and overnight lodging at North Bend State Park. Breakfast and dinner will be at the Lodge and sponsored by local businesses and there are regular food and water stops along each days route that is sponsored by local groups in the area.

Shenandoah Fall Foliage Festival Staunton, VA.
12 to 100 miles. Saturday routes extend into eastern Augusta County with lunch in New Hope, a small picturesque village. Visit Grand Caverns before or after lunch.  For shorter routes, drive to the lunch site and select a route ranging from 12 to 32 miles.  Sunday routes go into southern Augusta and Rockbridge counties with distances from 10 to 34 miles.  Camping or sleeping in the gym are available.

Save-A-Limb Ride and Festival Cockeysville, MD.
6, 15, 30 or 63 miles from Oregon Ridge Park. Sponsored by the Save-A-Limb Fund at Sinai Hospital. Ride along with cycle legends George Hincapie and Robbie Venutra through Maryland’s beautiful horse farms and rolling countryside while raising money for an worthwhile cause. Proceeds all go to help the Save-A-Limb Fund provide the much needed surgeries and assistance to patients who need limb lengthening and joint preservation surgeries to save their limbs and joints from amputation, both domestically and abroad. Registration fee covers a goodie bag filled with fun sports related items, a commemorative event T-shirt, post-ride picnic, fitness fair, and carnival. Registration fee before September 1 is $35 for the metric, $25 for the 30 or 15 miles, and $10 for the 6 miles.

Between the Waters Bike Tour Onancock, VA.
20, 40, 60 or 100 miles through interesting historic towns and communities and along back roads to scenic rest stops that overlook the Atlantic seaside and the Chesapeake Bay. This one day bike tour is an ecotourism event and fundraiser for Citizens for a Better Eastern Shore, a non-profit organization serving Northampton and Accomack counties.
