Members of OHBTC have been busy working for b>"more and better bicycling in Southern Maryland."

Kevin Colvin is chair of the Safety Committee. He was previously the road captain and president.

Randy

Randy Schoch is C coordinator and past president. Randy joined the club its first year and has held almost every position.

Mimi

Mimi Newcastle is the club treasurer and keeps the finances in order.

John Hutson is road captain

Jim

Jim Hudnall is chairman of the Public Relations Committee and a past president. Jim does the club web site.

Pierre

Pierre Summerville, past chairman of the safety committee, is one of Maryland's leading proponents of bicycle safety education. Pierre has organized many Bicycle Safety Rodeos and is a board member of the Washington Area Bicyclist Association.

Jeanne

Jeanne Ulrich, event coordinator, has organized the club's May Metric, Patuxent River Rural Legacy Rides, the Southern Maryland Centuries. She designed the club jersey.

John

MarkMark Holt is founder and coordinator of the Southern Prince George's County Trails Coalition. Mark and Coalition members work with county leaders and planners for more trails. The M-NCPPC budget now includes funding for completing the Henson Creek Trail from the Potomac River to the Branch Avenue Metro Station and starting segments of the Potomac Heritage Trail. Bill Kelly is chairman of the College Park Area Bicycle Coalition (he started it more than 15 years ago). Bill worked with bicycling advocates and the Maryland General Assembly for passage of Bicycle and Pedestrian Access 2001. His efforts have resulted in the College Park city council voting to recommend wide bike lanes on US route 1
FredFred Shaffer is a trails planner with M-NCPPC and chairs the county's Bicycle and Trails Advisory Group. BTAG developed a list of bicycle projects (off-road trails and on-road bikeways) for the "joint signature letter" of county transportation projects.  Fred chairs the Potomac Heritage Trail BTAG Subcommittee that is planning trails and a bike route from Oxon Hill Farm to Marshall Hall.
Everyone can help.

Your help is needed.

  • Lead a club ride.
  • Help with a metric or the century.
  • Let your elected officials know that you want better bicycle facilities.
  • Promote bicycling in your neighborhood.
